FAQ

Once a student turns 18, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) gives your student control over their health care and records, even if you are the policy holder. An adult student is responsible for their medical records access. By filling out a HIPAA release form, your student can grant you permission to access records and talk directly with doctors.

Insurance companies do not supply physicians or hospitals with the billing address for the policy-holder. If your student provided us with their college address when they registered as a patient, bills for their medical care will be sent to that address.

All radiology studies performed in the Emergency Department are reviewed by a radiologist. Often our Emergency Physicians do not have the final report for your radiology study when you are discharged. If there is a new finding on the radiology study, we will contact you.
